Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements for admission to the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction programs.
- Continuously teaching throughout the course of the program
- Complete the online application and submit the application fee.
- Submit official transcripts.*
- A Graduate Record Exam (GRE) quantitative score of 400 and verbal score of 500.
- Students may be provisionally admitted until they submit required Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. This must be done by the end of the second course in order to continue in the third course.
- 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) during the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework and a 3.0 average on all graduate work.

* Official transcripts from all senior or four-year institutions are required. Official transcripts are those mailed directly to the UTA Graduate School by the Registrar of the institution of attendance OR an official original "issued to student" transcript with the official university seal and signature of the Registrar of the institution of attendance.
Probationary Admission
Applicants who score less than 400 on the quantitative and 500 on the verbal sections of the GRE will be considered for probationary admission on the basis of the following:
- 3.0 GPA during the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework AND a 3.0 average on all graduate work (students may complete up to six graduate hours without GRE scores.)
- Professionally relevant experience
- Writing sample evaluated by the COEd Graduate Studies Committee. When available, the GRE writing sample will be required for probationary admission.
Terms of Probation upon Acceptance
All students admitted under probation status will be required to earn a 3.0 GPA during the first 12 hours of graduate coursework in the program, with no grade lower than a “B.”
Student Requirements
After being admitted, students must meet the following:
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to continue in this graduate program
- All pre graduation requirements should be completed before registering in the capstone course.
