College of Nursing
- Complete online application and submit application fee
- Submit official transcripts
- Official transcripts record all courses, bachelor's degrees or highest degree conferred by a regionally or nationally accredited institution. Official transcripts are sealed transcripts sent from the granting institution.
- 2.50 Grade Point Average (GPA) in required prerequisites (For BSN: this includes for all prerequisite nursing and natural sciences courses)
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam is required if the applicant’s native or first language is not English and if he or she does not hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution. Additional information is available here. Exemptions can be reviewed in the College of Nursing Academic Catalog.
- Top applicants will be ranked and admitted based on space availability.
Program-Specific Requirements
Certain programs have additional admission requirements:
RN-to-BSN
- RN license
Transcripts are evaluated in consideration of the Coordinating Board Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) guidelines. Credit is given for all courses listed in the FOSC guidelines as transferable, as well as any additional courses that may apply for transfer.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Complete the Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment (HESI A2) exam in Math, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, and Personality & Learning Styles.
- Complete twelve of sixteen credit hours of natural sciences by the application deadline.
- All prerequisites, including the three nursing prerequisites and an upper division elective, must be successfully completed prior to beginning the nursing program.
- Once you have completed your General courses and Pre-Nursing courses, you will need to fill out your second application to show your intent to start in the BSN nursing courses.

Unconditional Admission for Master's of Education Degrees
Requirements for All M.Ed Programs
GPA Requirements:
- 3.0 GPA during the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework
- 3.0 average on all graduate work

Program-Specific Requirements
Certain programs have additional admission requirements:
M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
GRE Score Requirements:
Meet 2 of the 3 GRE score minimums below without scoring less than 400 on the verbal or quantitative sections of the test:
- Verbal score of 500
- Quantitative score of 500
- Analytical writing score not less than 4.0
M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction
GRE Score Requirements:
- Quantitative score of 400
- Verbal score of 500
Provisional Admission
An applicant unable to supply all required documentation prior to the admissions deadline but otherwise appearing to meet admissions requirements may be granted provisional admission.
Students may be provisionally admitted until they submit required Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. Official GRE Scores must be submitted by the end of the second course in order to continue in the third course.
Probationary Admission
Master of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies:
Applicants failing to meet the unconditional admission GRE criteria or having a GPA less than 3.0 may be considered for probationary admission, in which case the following criteria will also be considered by the Graduate Studies Committee:
- Professionally relevant experience
- Writing sample
Terms of Probation upon Acceptance: All students admitted under probation status will be required to earn a 3.5 GPA during the first 12 hours of graduate coursework in the program.
Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction (Literacy, Science, Math):
Applicants who score less than 400 on the quantitative and 500 on the verbal sections of the GRE will be considered for probationary admission on the basis of the following:
- 3.0 GPA during the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework and a 3.0 average on all graduate work
- Professionally relevant experience
- Writing sample evaluated by the College of Education and Health Professions Graduate Studies Committee. When available, the GRE writing sample will be required for probationary admission.
Terms of Probation upon Acceptance: All students admitted under probation status will be required to earn a 3.0 GPA during the first 12 hours of graduate coursework in the program, with no grade lower than a “B”.
Deferred Admission
An applicant's admission may be deferred when a file is not complete or when denying admission is not appropriate.
Denied Admission
An applicant may be denied admission if the conditions for unconditional and probationary admission have not been met.
Student Requirements
Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies:
After being admitted and after completing any probationary period, students must meet the following:
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to continue in this graduate program
- Complete all pre-graduation requirements before registering in the capstone course
Additionally, since certification requirements vary among states, students should ensure they are in compliance with these requirements to ensure eligibility for school administrator licensure in their state.
Master of Education in Educational Curriculum & Instruction (Literacy, Science, Math):
- Students must have a valid state issued teaching certificate upon enrolling in the program.
- For Literacy: Maintain full-time employment teaching in a K–12 classroom/school throughout the course of the program
- For Math and Science: Maintain a continuous teaching and/or instructional facilitator role in a K-12 educational environment throughout the course of the program
- Maintain continuous teaching in a K-12 classroom/school throughout the course of the program
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to continue in this graduate program
- Complete all pre-graduation requirements before registering in the capstone course
College of Nursing
Program-Specific Requirements
Master of Science in Nursing Administration
- 200– 300 Word Essay (Personal statement describing career goals)
- GRE not required for students with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Have completed all prerequisites, including: BSN from NLNAC or CCNE Accredited Program, computer competence (evidence of computer literacy with spreadsheets)
- Undergraduate (basic) statistics course with a minimum grade of "C"
- Probationary admission - GRE required for applicants with a 2.8-2.99 GPA with minimum score of 430 on the verbal section, 430 on the quantitative section, or 3.0 on the analytical writing section (best 2 of 3 sections)
- Applicants must possess an unencumbered RN license. Two years clinical experience in registered nursing strongly recommended.
- International students are required to have two years clinical experience in a United States (or equivalent) health care system.
- International students are required to have a TSE score of 40 or higher. TOEFL - Minimum of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test, or 79 on the internet-based test, and achieve the following minimum scores of subtests: Writing, 22; Speaking, 21; Reading, 20; and Listening, 16; or IELTS minimum score of 7.0.
