The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree program is a convenient and affordable way to complete your undergraduate education. At one of the lowest tuition rates in Texas, only $450 per course, you will earn your bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university. This entirely online program provides you with the flexibility to balance your professional and educational goals. Courses are available in 8-week and/or 15-week formats, with multiple start dates throughout 2010.

This degree is ideal for students who entered the workforce directly after high school, who want to advance their two-year degrees, and who want the opportunity to earn technical or experiential credit. The BAAS program caters to individuals who have already achieved at least 45 hours of college credit and are eager to reach the finish line. Applicants for the BAAS program through Lamar University Academic Partnerships must meet the university's standard requirements for admission and one of the following criteria:

  • Have completed a minimum of 45 earned academic credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for all previous work completed in higher education OR
  • Be a high school graduate of at least 5 years OR
  • Be an active or retired service member with 3 or more years of military service.

In addition, applicants must be Texas Success Initiative (TSI) exempt or TSI complete to qualify for admission to the program. TSI information can be found online in the Lamar University General Catalog 2008-2010 (pages 43-44).

Applicants are responsible for assembling and submitting the official documents that will verify the above criteria are met. By submitting these materials, including sealed transcripts from all previous colleges and/or universities attended, the applicant is attesting that these documents provide a complete record of one's history in higher education.

Note to active or retired military personnel: Credit may be granted for military experience. Credit will be evaluated based upon the evaluation recommendations outlined in the American Council on Education (ACE) Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services manual. Applicants must submit one of the following documents: Form DD214 or Form DD256.
