Basic forms of expository writing. Frequent themes. Collateral reading in articles and essays of a factual and informative type.
Students will study a number of patterns of exposition and write six substantive expository essays, each of which is to be a minimum of 500 words in length. These essays should show progressively more mature exposition of topics. The course includes other assignments that stress understanding of Standard English (grammar, usage, punctuation, sentence structure, organization, drafting, and thoughtful revision).
