Admission Requirements
Each Lamar University Academic Partnerships degree program has specific requirements that you must meet in order to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines for the program in which you are interested. For specific questions or more details, view our admission FAQs.
College of Arts and Sciences
- Complete online application and submit the application fee of $25
- Official transcripts from all schools attended. Official transcripts are sent from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Verify specific requirements associated with chosen degree program
- The College of Arts and Sciences requires that majors in the college complete the freshman English composition requirement (six credit hours) with no less than a grade of "C".

Certain programs have additional admission requirements:
Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences
Applicants for the BAAS program through Lamar University Academic Partnerships must meet the university's standard requirements for admission and one of the following criteria:
- Have completed a minimum of 45 earned academic credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for all previous work completed in higher education OR
- Be a high school graduate of at least 5 years OR
- Be an active or retired service member with 3 or more years of military service
In addition, applicants must be Texas Success Initiative (TSI) exempt or TSI complete to qualify for admission to the program. TSI information can be found online in the Lamar University General Catalog 2008-2010 (Admissions, pages 43-44).
Applicants are responsible for assembling and submitting the official documents that will verify the above criteria are met. By submitting these materials, including sealed transcripts from all previous colleges and/or universities attended, the applicant is attesting that these documents provide a complete record of one's history in higher education.
Note to active or retired military personnel: Credit may be granted for military experience. Credit will be evaluated based upon the evaluation recommendations outlined in the American Council on Education (ACE) Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services manual. Applicants must submit one of the following documents: Form DD214, Form DD256 or proof of Active Military Service.

Dual Credit
High school students who wish to take advantage of the Dual Credit opportunities must:
- Be a Texas high school junior or senior and meet at least one test score below
- 10th or 11th Grade TAKS score of 2200 on Math & English Language Arts section; 3 in the writing subsection
- Composite SAT of 1070 with a minimum of 500 in critical reading and math sections
- Composite PSAT of 107 with a minimum of 50 on the critical reading and math sections
- Composite ACT of 23 with minimums of 19 on the English and math sections
- Composite PLAN of 23 with minimums of 19 on the English and math sections
College of Education and Human Development
- Complete online application and submit the application fee of $25
- Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended*
- Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 (cumulative or last 60 hours)
- Official GRE Score

Program-Specific Requirements
Certain programs have additional admission requirements:
M.Ed in Educational Administration
- Official GRE Score (verbal + quantitative = minimum score 800)
- Must have valid Texas teaching certificate
M.Ed in Educational Technology Leadership
- Official GRE Score - The admission formula is as follows:
Undergraduate GPA (or last 60 hours, whichever is higher) x 200 + (verbal + quantitative GRE score) = at least 1350. - A teaching certificate is not required for this program. However, teachers wishing to add 8-12 Technology Applications must have an initial certification.
M.Ed in Teacher Leadership
- Official GRE Score - The admissions formula is as follows:
Undergraduate GPA (or last 60 hours, whichever is higher) x 200 + (verbal + quantitative GRE score) = at least 1350. - Must have valid teaching certificate
College of Education and Human Development
- Complete online application and submit the application fee of $25 (for new Lamar University students)
- GRE Score (Minimum 800)
- Provisional admittance allowed without GRE for first six hours of course work
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Certificates do not qualify for financial aid.

Professional Program of Study in Technology Applications
Applicants for the Professional Program of Study in Technology Applications through Lamar University Academic Partnerships must meet the university's standard requirements for admission and the following criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree with 2.75 GPA
Principal Certification
Applicants for Principal Certification through Lamar University Academic Partnerships must meet the university's standard requirements for graduate admission and the following criteria:
- Master's Degree
- Submit TExES or ExCET Teacher Certification scores

Superintendent Certification
Applicants for the Superintendent Certification through Lamar University Academic Partnerships must meet the university's standard requirements for graduate admission and the following criteria:
- Master's Degree
- Submit TExES Principal score or Mid-Management score
- Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certification
- 1 year administrative experience (copy of service record)
